Learn how to develop an aesthetically pleasing and water conserving “Ocean Friendly Garden” using native and other drought tolerant plants, water efficient irrigation systems and devices (such as “smart” sprinkler controllers, low volume emitters and water efficient irrigation systems), permeable “hardscape” materials and on-site water retention techniques; to reduce water usage, lower your costs for watering your landscape and reduce dry-weather run-off to our oceans. You will also learn how to perform a site evaluation, turf removal, mulching, soil remediation, rainfall capture, plant selection and upkeep and other techniques.
